Hey all,
I'd like to alter the names of the ranks as per the table below.
We've been getting a fairly continuous stream of comments and confusion on them for the last year or so, and since the movement to create a totally new ranking system seems to be stalled for a bit, I thought this would make a simple but effective stopgap measure.
| Post Count | Old Rank | New Rank | | 0 | Ringlet | Ringlet | | 14 | Apprentice | Kibitzer | | 26 | Senior Apprentice | Senior Kibitzer | | 51 | Weaver | Voice | | 101 | Senior Weaver | Loud Voice | | 251 | Master Weaver | Major Voice | | 501 | Grand Master Weaver | Grand Master Speaker | | 1001 | Ancient Forge | Ancient Forge | | 3001 | Uber Mouth | Uber Mouth | | 9001 | --- | Grand Exalted Blabbermouth |

We might want to include the definition... And I couldn't find it with the double-b in Dictionary.com...
2 entries found for Kibitzer.
kib?itz ( P ) Pronunciation Key (kbts)
intr.v. Informal kib?itzed, kib?itz?ing, kib?itz?es
To look on and offer unwanted, usually meddlesome advice to others.
To chat; converse.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Yiddish kibitsen, from German kiebitzen, from Kiebitz, pewit, kibitzer, from Middle High German gbitz, pewit, of imitative origin.]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
kibitz?er n.
Kibitzer
n : someone who insists on giving unwanted advice [syn: backseat driver]
I'd be more inclined to use Chatterbox instead of Kibitzer - it's more cross-cultural :p
Are you Jewish/Yiddish Blaise? :p

Time is your friend,
Time is the mystery,
Time is the end.

Looks good to me.
"Loud Voice" sounds a little harsh... could you do "Minor Voice" then "Voice" then "Major Voice"? |

Yikes! I misspelled it! I'm not Jewish, just grew up in a Jewish neighborhood. I actually thought kibitz was a pretty well known word, but maybe that's just a New York thing.
LOL, you think 'Loud Voice' is harsh? I was originally thinking of using 'Loud Mouth'!
Seriously, though, if you think these should be changed, I'm happy to do so. I just wanted to nudge things in the right direction...

Well, at least for the time being, I put a preliminary set of changes in.
I left in the Kibitzer, just 'cause it amuses me, but that can come out if no one gets it. I did take out the 'Loud', just in case it really would offend someone.
At least now, we don't have to worry about people misunderstanding the current functionality.
Now if only Woody would come along and do up that new system he was working on....
