kind of an odd idea i had the other day, and browsing the trlf brought it up in my head again.. what about a mailler memorial? when a mailler passes, have a permanent listing of their handle (or name, with family permission.. or however it's decided is best..) and a picture of something they made..?
link under "community", organized by date of death.. kind of an intense thing, but also joyful.. not a way to mourn their death, so much as a way to celebrate their life..
anyway, i wouldn't want to limit this to MAIL members only.. there are only so many of us, and most of us are young(ish)..
not stuck on this, but i thought it might be a nice thing to do.

I think that's a very good idea Kim, I was so sad to hear of Pascal's passing, let's not forget him or anyone else.

I agree. It sounds like a very thoughtful thing to do to honour the memory of our fellow maillers.

I saw this just now and agree that it is a wonderful idea.

So what are you thinking about for a memorial? A place where names and contributions can be listed with acceptable personal information, or were you thinking something more informal like just a list of names?

The first of your two choices seems like a nicer idea to me. A list of names just doesn't mean much, but I guess it's better than nothing. |

i wasn't thinking that we'd put images of everything the person ever made, but perhaps
a name, a link to a memberpage (if they are MAIL members).. an image of something they were proud to have made., and a little personal information, birth and death dates..
something simple.

Yes this is the kind of thing I was thinking of.

I agree Chao I wasn't thinking everything that they did, but only a sampling of their best works and/or weaves that were credited to them.

If we wanted to start something like this what would be the procedure? Submit a name and information.

This is something on my list...
It's currently waiting for me to finish with Weaves and move on to Articles...
This sort of thing, I think, would be best suited to a 'collaborative article' that the current system cannot handle.
