M.A.I.L. ISSUE POLL - Admin Forum Comments

_________ORIGINALLY POSTED BY LEGBA___________
As has been discussed here and here
I am proposing an official membership vote on the subject of the membership being allowed to comment on Admin Discussions (which normally we can read but not comment on).
The three options will be:
1: all members should be allowed to post in admin discussion threads
2: posting in the admin discussion forum should remain reserved for BOD members only
3: create a forum specifically for BOD and membership to discuss MAIL policies, content and any other MAIL issues
This poll will determine if an official vote on this topic should be scheduled.

I voted as I did last time with the provision that I stated in the other thread. See here:

Just curious if there is a time frame set for this poll to run.

More than 2 days I would hope.
The Charter says:
"An issue poll must be acted on by the B.O.D. when a significant portion of the currently active membership have participated in the poll."

Well 26 votes thus far....how big is our active membership? What exactly defines being active? Because obviously we have some who are active in one sense but not in another IE submitting vs posting

Voted no.
I believe allowing everyone to comment in the Admin Forum will just add noise to the signal. The Requests Forum can fill the role of a public venue for issues, as Lorenzo said in the 2nd reference link. |

Ari, as I understand it, this vote is to decide whether we vote on the issue. So for this vote, if you have a firm opinion on the matter, you would vote 'yes'. Or if you feel more discussion is needed on the why's and wherefore's you would vote 'no'.
If this vote passes, then we would have the 'real' vote on the issue, and that's when you would vote 'no' if you felt that only Admins should comment in Admin threads.
Blaise, if I misinterpreted any of this please correct me.

Ari - it wouldn't necessarily add noise to the signal if it was done in an unobtrusive manner like what was proposed here.

I interpreted the current poll correctly. I believe the topic should not even be on the table officially.

Ari - I have to disagree to a point. While I think that the Admins/BoD should have a place that they can converse there have been times when they were having a conversation that effected me and I couldn't comment. When I PM'd one of them on an issue I got no response so I assume that I was ignored. This is just a way for people to voice a comment to help MAIL as an organization, how it is structured will depend on if it is intrusive or not. Or are you saying that we should not have a say in how MAIL is run and just let the BoD handle everything? (I mean no sarcasm, just an honest question.)

Far more than 2 days, I suspect.
The currently 'active' portion AKA Last 14 Days... is 107 Members.
51% of that is 54 people...
When this poll has >54 votes, I'd say we can consider it concluded.

You don't sound too convinced...
Is there a percentage of participation you had in mind?
