I'm in favor of auto-notifications for new admin threads. For admins who check the forums regularly anyway, an occasional redundant email isn't that much of a bother. But it would be a great help for admins who are away from the forums for whatever reason.
I also like the idea of an opt-in auto notify for the other forums, so I could keep track of new article threads, etc. In that scenario a flooded inbox would be more of a concern. Might it be possible to have threads group into categories? Something where the OP would check this is a thread about weave theory, ring size question, general chit-chat, etc. That way we could more selectively choose which threads we're notified about.
In fact, I think I'll put that in the 3.0 Requests thread.

i check regularly when i have access. i do not always have access. when i don't have access for 2-3 weeks, things tend to pile up. sometimes i have 30 minutes to deal with 3 weeks of stuff.
i'd rather not have my spam filter sift out emails from here, but i guess i can do that if there is no way to opt not to receive them..

I suppose I should clarify I'd want auto-notifications only when threads are first started, not for every post in all admin threads. For that I'd want the way it is now, where you opt-in or subscribed when replying.

This is turning into one HELL of a forum MOD...
Don't take this the wrong way, but I'll be tabling even looking into the possibility of this type of susbscription until I upgrade the forum to phpBB3... I'd hate to write this sort of code TWICE.

DL: Take it easy - that's not a matter of survival. Maybe just have a look into the possibility at all. If it proves to be a 'quick hack', fine - if it proves to be a very complicated affair, we can surely live with the fact not getting such a feature; better a missing 'nice-to-have' functionality than an existing but buggy one.
You're NOT our coding slave, but a volunteer whose work is highly appreciated, so take all time you need. MAIL3 development has priority, this feature is just a sideshow.

A chain is of use, but will break at the weakest link.
A weak weave will have the need to replace weak links.
A strong weave will survive even with weak links included.

But I like sideshows... What with the bearded ladies, alien babies in jars, children with horns...
Who doesn't like that?!
Seriously though, I'll look into it... And I'm sure it's something I can do, or there's possibly an already existing MOD out there for phpBB3... But I won't be making too many more modifications to the current board software.
It's End Of Life is within sight.

so, i just went about trying to unsticky legbas guidelines thread and post this info in a new one.. and i can't seem to find any moderator tools.. perhaps i don't have them, which is probably for the best.. i think that narrina or lorenzo should be the person posting this new set to avoid member confusion on who the admin is for this area.

Last I checked, I don't have moderator powers either.

Apparently I do have moderator powers in the weaves forum. I went through and cleaned up the old announcements/stickies that had no purpose anymore. Now there are only one unambiguous set of guidelines posted.

Umm... so did anyone remember to actually put these fancy new guidelines up on the weave submission page?
Maybe everyone forgot in the excitement of the moment?
I'm just sayin'... y'know.
