i'll keep checking for the email, i haven't received it yet, but it could just be slow in arriving.
i don't mean to be overly harsh here... i know that's how it looks. you obviously meant well with this. you spent time on these patches in specific, and time learning the skill in general. i don't mean to devalue your craft or the work you have put into them.
i know it's not a lot of money that you're talking about. i know it won't get you rich, and in all reality would probably be more of a headache than a profit maker for you. you were trying to do a nice thing for the community. i respect that, i really do.. and the fact that you've given away the patches that went out, is honorable, to me.
please understand where i am coming from with this. any member making any money, even if it is 50 cents for a day of labor, is not okay with me. now, if we discussed it, and you were giving patches away to, say, contest winners on a regular basis.. and some other member saw this, and appreciated it.. and wanted to give you something, that's their choice to give you something. people on this site give each other things at times. however, selling is different, to me.

| Well, all things considered, that is a nice looking patch, Christy. It would be nice if we could find some way to utilize it. But, if not, thanks for trying. |

I definitely believe that MAIL can use these. Even if they were given out as awards of some kind once a year maybe saying things other than member. I think it would be good for members to be able to buy them. The proceeds shouldn't be much, but it would be cool to use them to rent out some land to have a gathering or something. How cool would it be to be walking down the street somewhere and see a patch on someone's bag?!
I love the background design. |

I really like the design of that patch! I don`t have a specific item of clothing or carry-on that I use for my chainmailling, but it would be neat to have one; its obviously a conversation starter!! If the BOD wanted to put up a vote or something to see if others are interested, it might be a good idea. Obviously, the head honchos would have to vote amongst themselves to see if this is something they would like to have promoted, since MAIL is about sharing chainmaille with the world, not for profit, but for knowledge and to share new designs, creativity, etc.
I personally like that patch and woudn`t mind having one myself, but I do like the idea of having it as a prize for contest winners, for example, rather than just having them as items for purchase, such as what cafépress does.
just my thoughts on the matter...

| Bit of post necrophilia there but as I'd never seen this thread before, I must say that's an attractive patch. I take it that the members/BOD voted not to use it? |

| ya I don't want just one patch though, we need merit badges for proficiency in a given weave type or task. |

I would much rather see some enthusiasm for the CafePress Store Project. It has many more options than just patches, and every penny of the funds generated in donations to MAIL is accounted for.

Well, as it says in that thread: "To do this, we're looking to open up a contest for community designs, with the best being printed."
We need to get some community input first! I'm trying to drum some up. Work with me here Jax.

Hehe, ohhh, all right. As long as you don't suggest that I design some. I'm rubbish at things like that. |
