OK, then it can stay as-is.

A chain is of use, but will break at the weakest link.
A weak weave will have the need to replace weak links.
A strong weave will survive even with weak links included.

i would love it if the quilt took up an entire table! make em up and send em over!
also, the quilt will be displayed this year at the roswell UFO festival. not that i believe roswell was about UFOs, mind you. i suspect it has more to do with the US government sending thalidomide children up in experimental aircraft.. turns out they don't make good pilots. but, anyway, the quilt will be displayed there.

xD
And I always thought it was about selling hotdogs and popcorn o.O not to mention the increase of movie-plots for hollywood (which is - little known fact - also in America! So... more movies equals more money, equals more taxes, equals more money for the government, equals more money for the politicians... It's a big scam guys!) |

"may contain some ooh and ahhhs," indeed.
beautiful, zili!
i'll figure out where to put it and stitch it in before the next time it will be displayed.

okay, the more i look at the quilt, the more i realize that it needs to be in museums. we need 4 more patches to balance it out.
we need to think about display. so far i've been spreading it out on a table with a draped sheet. if we can figure out a hanging display that doesn't stress the maille, finding a host will probably be easier. for now, i'd rather keep it as a table display.
thoughts? any of you have experience in this sort of thing? (meaning gallery display)..
it's possible that all we'd need is a bit of sign-grade plywood, painted some kind of off-white. i am thinking sign grade so that we aren't fighting visual grain lines. i want the focus to be on the maille, not the board.
thoughts? i know this is probably at least a year out, but i'd like to start chewing over the options.

please keep your pants on. i suspect pictures to take at least a month. i'm not going to bother assembling until i have access to a camera worthy of the task.

Dammit David... where were you earlier when I was trying to explain why I answered the door with no pants on?

i'm not stitching in zilis patch until i get a few more so i'm able to place the patch in the place where it has the most visual cohesion with the rest of the piece.
also, i'm printing out a blurb to frame and put on the table explaining who donated the patches and what the alpha project is.. there is the odd moment when i'm busy taking money from someone and i just can't explain that not all of the patches are my work.
SO.. real names or MAIL member names?
i'll probably list myself as "kim 'sakredchao' chatfield".
if you have a preference, post your prefer.

You're the beholder, and I trust your decision that should fit all needs. Personally I would chose one presentation style as 'default', and only deviate from on a patch donor's demand.

You can put me as Elizabeth 'DruidQueen' Turner if you put names. I'm hoping to eventually make another patch and send it to you one day.
When is the UFO festival? Did I miss it?
I'll rise, but I won't shine. |

you missed it. it was.. july? early july, i think.
after i receive 4 more patches i'm considering opening things up for a second quilt. and after we have a total of 30 patches, i'll work on rearranging things between both quilts for maximum visual cohesion.
i'll get things printed up this afternoon.
