well, im fairly new to the site, and also fairly new to mailling, but i was wondering, how old were you when you made your FIRST piece of chainmail?
I am 15, and i started mailling a couple of months ago. I had found some old networking cable lying around, so i stripped it, wound it around a pen, cut it and made some pretty crappy looking E4-1 with it. Everyone thought it was cool, including me, so them i went and bought some enamelled copper wire from the local electronics shop. BIG mistake. i found some silver-ish jump rings at a craft store, loved 'em but they tarnished.
last week i bought some .9mm galvy, made some rings, got me some front cutters and im really happy now!
how did all of YOU start? |

| Started just before my 13th birthday, and now I'm almost fifteen. In fact this weekend I'm going back to the very rennaisance faire that started me off on this whole thing. |

I was 15, im 16 now and it seems we have quite a few young maillers here, gotta love the "Grizzled Ancients" ( I say it with the greatest respect ) who have showed us that mailling is one of the greatest things we could learn.

Wups, that's what I get for not reading the question -- thought it was about my present age and still active at mail.
Which I am. I've only made a few pieces but I started when I was first in the Society for Creative Anachronism. I would have been about twenty.
