Hello!
A friend of mine tries to make a playmobil-model with all persons and the historical professions of our club - our hobbies are the middle ages. In my case this means to build a tent, tools, products and the workshop of a "Sarworter". (Sarworter is the middle high german expression for an armourer who produces maille-armour.) Of course I have to make the maille-products.
Some of you may have seen the playmobil-maille-shirt which I made for Zilis birthday in this years BDC. This was my first attempt for such a small shirt.
My next try was a coif, which you can see in the following picture:
I posted this picture in a playmobil-forum and I got a lot of posts from the other participants.
In order to show them, that you can start with smaller projects, I posted also this picture with jewellery:
In some remarks I was asked to build a hauberk, a bikini and a maille-attachement to the viking vendel-helmet.
Although these remarks were made as jokes, I was able to take photos of these jokes:
All rings have an ID of 1.4 mm, while each wire-type has a diameter of 0.4 mm.
The rings with which I connected the maille to the helmet have an ID of 1.6 mm.
I used brass, copper, and silver-wire with a copper-core.

Why hate it? I don't ask because I think it is crazy, but because I'm curious, I think I never met someone who didn't enjoy playing with playmobil.
I almost never really played with it, I just buil new castles all the time, made an army of people and once, I even made food for 'em out of modeling clay.
After looking at those pics a bit longer, I got curious and tried to find the playmobil-forum... I never found it (or at least not your thread) but I found some astonishing pictures of things people made out of playmobil. |

Okay, Lego is awesome ^^ The only reason for me that Playmobil qas actually better is because it made awesome castles
@catweazle
Thanks ^^ It's nice to see the reactions of the people there (and kinda funny to see how many of them have armor *gg*) |

Agreed!
Growing up in England, I remember trekking to the toy shops frequently to pick out pick the latest Lego set I wanted...
Playmobil was bulkier, and gave you far less options... I guess even my young mind knew it was squashing my imagination compared to Lego.

Sorry to jump in on this thread late, but I loved these pieces. My favorite part had to be the hauberk and the bikini, in that you completed those "jokes" and even added a tiny iron cross inlay on the hauberk to boot. So . . . how about the horse? |

I'm working on it. But it will take a littel time before the horse-armour is finished, because of the theme contest.
